Available Snake Training

Discover Deadly has been offering a range of courses and education sessions since 2007. Our trainers work daily with venomous snakes and have many years of experience in catching snakes. Our trainers hold current Senior First Aid certificates and have attained a high level of education. Our head trainer holds a Certificate IV in Training & Assessing TAE40122. Discover Deadly has Public Liability Insurance cover for $20 million and a 100% safety record for training. We have successfully trained many individuals and Corporations, including Aboriginal Corporations, Local Resorts/Tourism Parks, Vestas Wind Farms, and various local Government Departments.

Short Course

Our 2-hour Snake Safety & Awareness course is designed for anyone interested in learning about snakes and how to keep safe around them. The session covers essential topics such as Fear of Snakes, Snake Bite First Aid, Snake Behaviour, keeping a Snake Smart Property, and keeping Pets safe. Currently, this course includes a display of local snake species and a live demonstration of a close snake encounter. This is a great introductory course and can be presented to large groups.

Long Course

Our full-day (8-hour) Snake Management Course is capped at 8 people per day. This course runs for individuals at our Centre in Carbunup River. It also runs for Corporate Groups - we come to you. We do recommend attendees of this course retrain every 2-3 years to keep up-to-date with new information and refine skills.

This course covers a wide range of topics in depth: OHS, Risk Assessment, Fear of Snakes, Snake Bite First Aid, Catch & Release techniques using a range of equipment, Snake biology, Venom & Antivenom, Snake ID, the economic/environmental impact of snake removal, and snake behaviour. This course has two components: the morning session is theory-based, and the afternoon session is all hands-on practical skill training. Working with a variety of snake species. This course follows our strict safety guidelines and dress code. All attendees MUST wear long, loose-fitting pants, a long-sleeve shirt and fully enclosed work boots. Gaiters will be provided. We only use Cloggers’ SnakeSafe Gaiters - tested against all major Australian Venomous snakes and made in Australia..

Equipment

Need Catch Equipment - we have you covered! We make most of our equipment in-house, including our classic flat wide ‘V’ snake hooks, frames, and detachable bags. We source sustainable materials and re-purpose equipment where possible. We support local small businesses/contractors for some precision elements. Our snake tongs are imported from Midwest Tongs US - they are a professional-grade line, built to give years of service. They are the most humane snake tongs on the market. Our range of equipment can be purchased online or in-store.
